Private real estate investments

Private equity investments can offer you direct ownership of real estate, compared to investing in real estate investment trust (REITS) or property development firms listed on the stock exchange.

You can, for instance, purchased a fully leased industrial building and receive rental payments from the tenants, while also benefiting from the value appreciation of that investment. Or you can purchase the property jointly with any number of partners. Alternatively, you can invest in debts by lending funds to real estate owners or purchases.

Private real estate funds have undergone an average increase in NAV (net asset value) for 17 quarters in a row, yielding annualized returns of 17% over the past three years, as of May 2015.* In the wake of the US quantitative easing policies and similar measures undertaken by the major Asian economies, propertied assets have become worthy investments with ample room for value appreciation.

KDI presides over an extensive portfolio of real-estate private equities spread throughout Hong Kong, mainland China, the US, Japan and London. These assets range from land banks, offices, residential and commercial properties and bare land for development. Our portfolio also consists of loan equities and convertible bonds.

We will continue to team up with our strategic partners worldwide to find and acquire top-quality, income-generating assets – either through debt or equity positions - at discounts to replacement costs. With the property acquisitions, our real estate team will move in to address any infrastructural or operational issues. Once they are resolved, we hold the properties until the right timing when they can be sold to individual or institutional investors, resulting in solid returns for our investors.
